Section 230: In their latest amicus brief, Corbin, Berin, and Ari told the Ninth Circuit that Section 230 protects app stores and social media platforms that offer casino-style games.
Broadband: Jim’s comments to the NTIA on the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program recommended not applying the standard rules on grants, which are for smaller, standalone projects. Jim was also quoted in Broadband Breakfast.
Podcast: On the latest Tech Policy Podcast, Corbin and Ari discussed Missouri v. Biden, the recent case that addressed government “jawboning” of social media companies.
Spectrum: Jim submitted comments to the FCC on spectrum sharing for non-geostationary orbit, fixed-satellite systems. Fundamental questions remain as to how many constellations can be accommodated in the current frequency bands, and the Commission should move cautiously.
KOSA: MediaPost quoted our letter on the problems with the Kids Online Safety Act and the ambiguity of the bill’s “knowledge fairly implied” language. We were also quoted in The Week, Reason, The Washington Examiner, and Platformer (syndicated in The Verge).
