DoJ Barely Wins Google Search Case, Acts Like Conqueror of Rome
Plus our policy forum, AI in the OC, and more.
Policy Forum: Day one of our policy forum on the constitutional limits of government to address alleged “censorship” and “bias” is going great! Today we’ve been discussing the FTC and DoJ. There’s still time to register for tomorrow’s workshop on the FCC—or you can view the livestream.
Podcast: On the latest Tech Policy Podcast, Vidushi Dyall of the Chamber of Progress discusses the remedies phase of the Google Search antitrust trial. The DoJ squeaked out a victory at the liability phase—and now they’re acting like they own Chrome, Safari, Android, and Gemini.
AI: Andy’s essay in the Orange County Register, which explores how the county could become a leader in AI innovation through improved public policy, was highlighted during an Octane OC panel on the future of AI in Orange County, California.
State Legislation: We joined a letter to New York lawmakers expressing concerns over the “Responsible AI safety and education act” (RAISE Act), which would create substantial obstacles to innovation. The letter was heavily featured in Bloomberg Government (paywall).
EU Regulations: Berin has been quite busy speaking on the trans-Atlantic conflict over free expression, content moderation, and platform regulation. Last week he gave a keynote speech at the European Internet Governance forum (EuroDig), and is slated to speak at the Computers, Privacy, Data Protection conference (CPDP), the Europe Liberty Forum, and the European Union in International Affairs conference.
