Upcoming Webinar: Register now for the eighth installment of our “Tech in the Courts” webinar series on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. ET—co-hosted with Washington Legal Foundation. Our panel will discuss Missouri’s proposed rule on user choice in social media content moderation.
First Amendment: We joined an amicus brief urging the Tenth Circuit to affirm a ruling that Utah’s Social Media Act violates the First Amendment by imposing burdensome age verification requirements.
State Regulation: Andy filed comments commending the California Privacy Protection Agency for revising its Automated Decisionmaking Technology (ADMT) regulations by narrowing the definition of ADMT to focus on consumer privacy and removing all references to “artificial intelligence,” as we suggested earlier this year.
EU Regulations: Andy and Berin filed comments on the European Commission’s “Apply AI Strategy,” emphasizing the need to implement concrete initiatives to streamline its AI regulatory framework.
Podcast: On the latest Tech Policy Podcast, Mike Masnick of Techdirt joins Corbin and Santana to discuss the FTC’s “Inquiry on Tech Censorship.” The episode doubled as this week’s Techdirt podcast. For more, check out our comments to the FTC.
Antitrust: On a new episode of the Rethinking Antitrust podcast, Bilal speaks with Giovanna Massarotto on how computer science technologies can help improve and strengthen antitrust enforcement and how licensing remedies may be better than divestiture or behavioral remedies in addressing antitrust violations.
In The Antitrust Source, Bilal provides a detailed overview of civil antitrust enforcement and policy of the DOJ during President Trump’s first term, focusing on the tenure of Assistant Attorney General Makan Delrahim.
Bilal joined a Federalist Society program discussing the Ninth Circuit’s decision to uphold the dismissal of the FTC’s challenge to Microsoft’s Activision acquisition and its implications for future merger enforcement.
Rule of Law: On Substack, Corbin flagged the mismatch between conservatives’ rhetoric about virtue and their failure to deal with the national debt. Being a dude, he of course invoked the decline of the Roman Empire. RIP.
AI: Andy attended an event hosted by the CEO Leadership Alliance of Orange County focused on accelerating the region's AI ecosystem. The gathering brought together Orange County’s top 40 AI professionals—a distinction that recognized Andy’s several essays on the topic.
